—This short guide provides an understanding of general environmental awareness and business waste management (also known as resource management). It is suitable for all levels of workers including employees, supervisors and managers as well as business owners.
Explaining how you can manage and take ownership of your business waste resources, no matter how small or large your business is. Using the slogan 'Recycle at work as you do at home' this course encourages people to think about business waste resources in the same way as they do at home, with everything that's recyclable being separated and processed with the least environmental impact.
We give examples of waste which come under the WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment) which deals with the collection, recovery and recycling of electronics and component materials for businesses, and obligations for businesses for the safe disposal of these items within the framework of these regulations and their own purchasing strategies. We also offer suggestions for how to reduce electrical equipment going to landfill, by supporting charitable organisations who run recycling schemes which accept business donations and provide signposting to make it easier for you.
